CampWay's Outdoor Education Program welcomes students from across Arizona for immersive, hands-on learning experiences at two beautiful camp campuses nestled in the Prescott National Forest, conveniently located just two hours from the Phoenix Valley.

Available throughout the school year—from August through May—our all-inclusive 2-night, 5-meal, 8-activity program combines engaging, NGSS-aligned science lessons with the traditions, adventure, and relationship-building of a classic summer camp, creating unforgettable experiences that inspire learning, strengthen friendships, and build confidence.

Most schools choose our all-inclusive 2-night, 5-meal, 8-activity program because it offers the perfect balance of meaningful learning and hassle-free planning. With a full schedule of NGSS-aligned activities already built in and optional experiences like high ropes and evening programs available to add, it's easy to create the Outdoor Education trip that's just right for your students.

What's Included?

2 Nights of Lodging

Students and parent chaperones enjoy comfortable, climate-controlled accommodations with traditional bunk-style sleeping, while teachers and school administrators have access to more private accommodations featuring full- or queen-size beds. Whether staying in classic cabins or unique yurt-style lodging, every group enjoys an authentic overnight camp experience designed to foster connection, teamwork, and lasting memories.

What's Included?

5 Meals from the Camp Dining Hall

Five hearty, buffet-style meals are included with every trip and prepared on-site by our dining team. We accommodate dietary restrictions, handle the details, and offer optional meal additions and premium menu upgrades to fit your group's needs.

Science Camp Field Trips

8 Daytime Activity Blocks

Every trip includes eight activity sessions spread across two days at camp. Our signature schedule features engaging, NGSS-aligned science lessons that deliver the classic CampWay Outdoor Education experience, with the flexibility to substitute select activities or add experiences like high ropes, zip lining, team-building challenges, and evening programs to fit your group's goals.

Nature as Your Guide

Our hands-on, NGSS-aligned lessons bring the classroom to life, giving students a chance to explore, experiment, and engage with the subject matter in exciting ways. Learning has never been this fun!

Water in the West

Learn about the different stages of the water cycle and how they specifically relate to desert environments like ours. We will discuss water conservation techniques and brainstorm how to minimize human impact and water waste in our everyday lives.

Owl Pellet Dissection

Learn how the physical and behavioral adaptations of desert owls make them elite predators in this region. Dive into a hands-on experience when you get the chance to dissect an owl pellet and record the abundance and diversity of the owl’s diet.

Geocaching

Students will learn how to use GPS devices to track down different caches around camp. At each cache, students will learn about different animals that will help lead them to the final cache! They will discuss the high desert food web & animal adaptations.

Shelter Building

Students will discuss different shelters, their corresponding environments, and what elements the shelters are protecting against. They will also get a chance to design and build their own shelter with the surrounding natural materials.

Nature Hike

Enjoy the beauty of the Prescott National Forest on one of our scenic trails. Students will discuss the difference between an ecosystem and environment and learn about some of the local flora and fauna in the high desert.

Energy of the Archers

Students will discover the relationship between kinetic and potential energy through archery. They will learn how to shoot arrows & conduct an experiment to test their hypothesis.

Fire in the Desert

Students explore the important role of fire ecology and discover how wildfires are a natural and essential part of healthy forest ecosystems. They also learn practical fire safety skills, including how to safely build, manage, and fully extinguish a campfire, while gaining hands-on experience using flint and steel to start a fire.

Everybody Needs a Rock

Students explore the fascinating world of rocks and minerals found throughout our local ecosystem while learning how they are used in everyday life. Through hands-on exploration, they gain an understanding of the rock cycle and discover the processes that shape Earth's ever-changing landscape.

Team Building

Students strengthen communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills through a variety of engaging team-building experiences. Activities include large-group bonding games, small-group initiatives, prop-based challenges, and our low-ropes course, all designed to build trust, encourage collaboration, and help groups grow stronger together.

Challenge students to step outside their comfort zones with our exciting high ropes adventures. From the zip line and climbing wall to the giant swing, leap of faith, and aerial ropes course, these instructor-led experiences build confidence, resilience, and teamwork while creating unforgettable memories high above the forest floor.

Axe Throwing

Under the guidance of trained instructors, students learn the fundamentals of safe axe throwing while practicing focus, coordination, and perseverance. This exciting challenge encourages patience and determination as participants develop a new skill in a fun, supportive environment.

Canoeing & Kayaking

(Seasonally Available • Friendly Pines Camp Only)

Students paddle across our scenic camp lake while learning the fundamentals of canoeing and kayaking in a safe, instructor-led environment. This seasonal activity builds confidence, teamwork, and watercraft skills while giving students the opportunity to experience the outdoors from a whole new perspective.

Our flagship 130-acre campus has been welcoming campers since 1941 and is home to CampWay's signature Outdoor Education experience. Nestled in the same beautiful Prescott National Forest is our newly renovated 40-acre campus is home to CampWay's second Outdoor Education location, featuring 14 climate-controlled yurt-style cabins accommodating up to 95 guests.
